The ‘Power and Mandate of the Prosecution' originates from the people and it is evident that the prosecution can only serve its purpose with the support of the people. Thus, we cannot help but stress that the fundamental task laid out for prosecutors is to uphold Korean Constitution and secure the rights of citizens.

In order to combat the imminent threat of specialized and sophisticated crimes, we are strengthening prosecutorial capacity by adopting innovative investigative technique, acquiring high-tech equipments and recruiting diverse professionals.

Under all circumstances, investigations must proceed under fair and due procedures. The Korean Prosecution Service will pay utmost respect to the fundamental human rights, whether they be the accused or victims. We will develop an effective and harmonized mechanism to grant sufficient remedies and protections to criminal victims.

Furthermore, it has always been my conviction that the present framework of international cooperation must be enhanced. Direct networking based on mutual trust, is key to coping with ever-increasing transnational crimes. Especially, strengthening international mutual assistance sets a cornerstone in preventing cross-border crime from making illicit profits.

Based on diverse knowledge, experience and lessons acquired in the process of miraculous development in Korea, the Korean Prosecution Service is always willing to share our past, present and future. As one of the most active and leading nations in the world, we will always be a true partner and a reliable resource institution of yours to achieve a common goal of all prosecutors: "Prosecution service with justice and love for citizens".
